A member of Data Product Development, you are driving the architecture of Pitney Bowes’ Data product development initiatives. You will be overseeing development efforts as Team Lead while working in conjunction with both on/off-shore teams at the Enterprise level. In addition, as a technical leader, this individual will have a direct hand in bringing new products into the market and contributing to the success of our Data business. You are leading continuous improvement efforts, which is part of our DNA. You are encouraged to find new way to do things that will continuously improve daily work.
This position will sit permanently in either our White River Junction, VT or Shelton, CT.
You will be working with the engineering teams to build our new Consumer (Social & Identity) Insights DATA Product.
Establish technical vision and direction while mentoring team members to execute & deliver as per the plan.
You will take part in all aspects of software lifecycle: requirements analysis, architecture, design, development, reviews, automation, testing, integration, configuration management, and troubleshooting.
You will work as an integral member of a self-directed Agile development team employing a Scrum-based methodology.
Stay current on AWS technologies and proactively learn new technologies.
As a Principal Software Engineer/Architect, you have:
10 years of Software Development using Java technologies, out of which 3 years in Architecture.
Must have experience in architecting products that can process large volumes of data by leveraging modern cloud-based technologies such as AWS cloud technology stack.
Expertise in building products leveraging Social & Identity data is a must.
Expertise in SQL is critical while exposure to Graph databases would be ideal.
Building products leveraging AWS cloud services (EMR, ECS and EC2) is a must.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Exposure to modern technologies such as; Hadoop, Spark, Graph, Columnar, & Document data store is nice to have.
Exposure to Machine Learning & AI is a plus.
Able to work independently as well as within a geographically distributed agile development team.
Self-motivated and able to deliver on commitments on-time all the time with quality.
Proactive & willing to take challenging technical initiatives that may be completely new.
Ability to troubleshoot and quickly resolve software problems.
Excellent Written and verbal communications skills are important.
Advanced problem solving and analytical capabilities.
BS/MS in Computer Science or Equivalent preferred.
