You are:

A performance driven Individual who understands financial information, transactional accounting, and internal controls. You are relationship orientated and will be responsible for supporting the day to day accounting operations of the Global Financial Services business. You will ensure that financial activities are aligned with Company goals and objectives, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles, and in compliance with government regulations and Pitney Bowes Corporate Accounting policies.

In this role, you’ll join our North American Financial Services Accounting team in Shelton, CT and report in to the Global Financial Services Controller’s organization. You will be responsible f

  • Get to partner with Finance and other cross-functional groups on new initiatives driving business growth.

  • Actively engage with senior members of the Accounting team to develop innovative solutions to challenges.

  • Perform monthly closing activities including recording manual journal entries and ensuring appropriate support.

  • Streamline processes and identify efficiencies to make the month end close process run more smoothly.

  • Reconcile accounts on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis depending on the risk level & identify areas of improvement.

  • Assist with continuous improvement, automation, and internal control initiatives in support of corporate strategies.

  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports and perform account analysis to understand what’s driving changes in the Financials.

  • Work actively with cross-functional teams to drive process and project completion.

  • Actively support internal and external audits including preparation of audit support and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Complete corporate reporting requests such as HFM roll-forwards, analytics & other related inquiries

Your background:

As a Staff Accountant, you have:

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in an accounting a similar role and/or public accounting experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Strong Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong MS Access skills

  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized; high energy level; proactive

  • Effective, professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to think creatively to solve complex problems;

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-passed environment.


  • Technical accounting skills (lease accounting expertise is a plus)

  • MBA and / or CPA (license) preferred

  • Experience with financial reporting systems (Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, Oracle Leasing).

  • Experience with data warehouse query tools (e.g. Cognos)

Within our Global Financial Services (GFS) team, we provide a full range of financial product offerings primarily for Pitney Bowes’ Global SMB clients. These offerings include leasing, revolving lines of credit (Purchase Power), postage deposit accounts at the PB Bank, and Payment API’s in support of our 1 million SMB and Global ecommerce customers.
